In his 1914 collection of short stories, Dubliners, James Joyce evokes many streets, buildings, neighbourhoods and geographical features to lend a sense of immediacy and realism to his work. Some of these places are remarkably unchanged since Joyce's era while other landmarks are either long gone or altered beyond recognition.
Historyeye tours some key locations from five of Joyce's stories:
An Encounter, A Painful Case, Araby, A Boarding House, and The Sisters.
